Healthy Eating and Active Play Conferences

NSW Health in partnership with Early Childhood Australia (ECA) developed and delivered a series of Munch & Move Healthy Eating and Active Play Virtual Conferences in 2017, and again across 2019-2021. The Conferences offered high level professional development for early childhood education and care service leaders participating in Munch & Move.

The recent Conference program was designed to support services to meet the requirements of the National Quality Standard and the Early Years Learning Framework, and extended beyond the Munch & Move program training to focus on areas of leadership.

The keynote presentations are now available below for all service leaders to access anytime. These video recordings were taken at the Virtual Munch & Move Healthy Eating and Active Play Conference, held on 10th March 2021.

Conference sessions were as follows:

  • Service Management – leadership strategies to motivate and support ECEC educators to successfully implement Munch & Move; presented by Catharine Hydon. Access the Action Plan referenced throughout the presentation here.
  • Programming with Play – strategies for embedding age-appropriate active play experiences in ECEC services, including the fundamental movement skills; presented by Dr Yeshe Colliver, developed in collaboration with Dr Luke Touhill.
  • Conversations with Families – managing challenging conversations with families in relation to the Munch & Move key messages; presented by Catharine Hydon, developed in collaboration with Jill McLachlan.
  • Munch & Move Supports – a summary of the State-wide support available for all participating Munch & Move centre-based services and family day care service providers; presented by Paul Gordon, developed in collaboration with Lara Hernandez.
