Childcare and healthy eating
Information about health standards and nutrition for childcare centres, plus handy factsheets on preparing food for young children (Better Health, Victoria).

Kids with Zip
A 160-page book on food and physical activity for children in care, produced by the National Family Day Care Council of Australia. Not downloadable, but you can order a copy from the Pearson Education Australia website.

Caring for Children
A new edition of the well-known ‘Yellow Book’ from Lady Gowrie Child Centre. Looks at nutrition for childcare and fun activities to get children involved in eating well (click the ‘Childcare checklists’ on this page for an example of what’s in the book). Not downloadable, you can order a copy by printing the order form from the website.

Guidelines and regulations

The Department of Community Services (DoCS) website has excellent information on childcare services. Click on ‘child care regulations’ to find the regulations governing childcare, including the provision of nutritious food.
