OOSHC (out of school hours care)

Children are often at their hungriest after or before school, so they need nutritious food to fill that gap. They can also benefit greatly from fun activities. This page provides links to useful resources that are specific to OOSHC.

Planning food and activities

Nutrition Ready to Go @ Out of School Hours
The NRG @ OOSH project (see case study) was a successful project designed to improve nutrition for children in OOSHC. It produced a very useful resource, the NRG @ OOSH Manual, which you can’t download but can order from the website.

Eat Smart, Play Smart
This manual about nutrition and activities for OOSHC centres was produced by the Heart Foundation. It has recipes, menu plans and activity ideas to get kids interested in eating healthy food.
