YHunger Cookbooks

Asian noodles with chopsticks and an asian curry with rice

The Yhunger cookbooks are designed to be flexible to the different accommodation services, with options to cook 2,4 or 6 serves. All recipes in the cookbooks are costed to be under $4 a serve.

The recipes are designed to be realistic, quick and easy and include versatile ingredients that can be used often. The recipes aim to promote healthy eating in young people, especially an increase in fruit and vegetable intake.

There are two cookbooks available:‘Reheat: A Cookbook for Young People’ (PDF 9.5MB) was created in 2003 and has been well-loved by young people for many years and has been given a fresh new look so it stays attractive and relevant to young people.

The second cookbook, called ‘Made Fresh: More Mad Feeds’ (PDF 14MB) provides recipes with more culturally diverse flavours.

All recipes have been tested by 56 young people at participating youth services, including Ted Noffs Street University at Liverpool, Liverpool Youth Accommodation Assistance Company (LYAAC), Liverpool Youth Refuge, Glebe Youth Service, Rendu Youth Service, Stepping Stone House and Mission Australia Fairfield Youth Connections.
