Sun exposure in the first fifteen years is linked to the increased likelihood of skin cancer, including melanoma, as an adult. Given this alarming fact, the Cancer Council developed the SunSmart Primary School Program – a free national program that provides schools with sun protection guidelines, policy and curriculum resources.

Generation SunSmart

Generation SunSmart (opens new window) is a free online learning tool. The site contains learning modules for teachers with interactive information, quizzes and games. After signing up, staff and educators can complete the modules at their own pace, saving their progress, and are able to revisit previous lessons. This site provides comprehensive information and tips about skin cancer, keeping safe in the sun and including sun protection in the learning program. Once completed, a Generation SunSmart certificate will be sent to schools.
